Satin Panthers
Lennox Dickinson: The mystically titled 'Satin Panthers EP' dropped on Warp Records yesterday (1st August). It has to be said that the only thing you can really expect from a Hud Mo release is that it will be totally goddamn weird.
This EP is a much more dance-floor orientated release, a step away from from the hip-hop of 'Butter' and the 'Hudson's Heeter's' mixtapes, but still drenched in that classic Hud Mo steez.
Highlights are 'Thunder Bay' , a fucked-up take on dubstep with menacing synthesised horns and ridiculous bass, 'CBat' which is a kind of electro/southern hip-hop symphony and 'All Your Love' (my personal favourite), a sugar-sweet, glitchy treat of a tune.
After the success of 'Butter' and the recent collaboration with Chris Brown, perhaps Hudson Mohawke is destined to be the new Timbaland, except less of a bell-end. Either way this EP is excellent & sonically-pleasing from start to finish, maybe I should crawl off Hudson's cock, or maybe he's just bloody awesome. Who knows..... Don't shoot the messenger.
Available now on rather snazzy looking 12" or on Bleep or iTunes.
