Eric Copeland is releasing a new album on Escho Records, a Copenhagen based record label. The album is supposed to be hugely influenced by the sounds and tempo of the city of Copenhagen. This song ‘Krankendual’ is a song of three parts. Opening with an accessible African sample (very Danish) and a hip hop laced beat, this is combined with typical Copeland distortion and pitch bending. The song then converges into a breakdown of slowed down noise which then finishes off with whole new set of samples and sounds. An interesting piece of music, which although quiet fragmented, is held together through Copeland’s masterful control of soundscape.
Having said all that, it doesn’t sound very Danish to me.
