Record Label Profile: Old English Spelling Bee

Old English Spelling Bee had a hugely successful 2010 by producing a consistently unique sound. It is a label which promotes the 80s pop aesthetic with a modern approach and all the artists represent this with total individuality. It is no surprise that the majority of these artists are solo artists as the records released have a real loner, bedroom vibe to them and always with a lo-fi sound. Here are a few artist to get you started. The label is pretty prolific, so after this go over to their blog http://oesbee.blogspot.com/ and then take a look at their vimeo page http://vimeo.com/oesbee.

'Forest Swords'- 'Rattling Cage'-  the album 'Dagger Paths' was also released on 'No Pain In Pop' records.

Rangers-'Deerfield Village' This is from the new album Suburban Tours.

'Ducktails' - 'Hamilton Road', brilliant music video, from the album 'Ducktails III: Arcade Dynamics',which also features 'Killing the Vibe', a delightful duet between Ducktails and Panda Bear.

'James Ferraro'- 'Leather High School', taken from the album 'Night Dolls with Hairspray', 'Last American Hero' LP is a necessary listen, his sound really brings that vintage 80s sound to a modern audience.
